Anita is quite the piecer, just a few weeks ago I shared her Sunny Skies quilt with you. Today I have another quilt by Anita but this one has a totally different feel. Anita made a beautiful Vintage Hankie quilt and brought it to Angela Huffman for machine quilting. She needed to find the perfect backing fabric and quilting design for it. How sweet is her vintage hankie quilt? Anita said this was one of her UFOs (UnFinished Objects) sitting in a closet for a long time. She put it away after piecing it because she simply didn’t know what to do with it. Anita made a beautiful Vintage Hankie quilt and brought it to Angela Huffman for machine quilting. She needed to find the perfect backing fabric and quilting design for it. When she dropped the top off at the shop she still needed a backing fabric. She was struggling over what color the fabric should be. She used a lot of white in her pieced stars, but each hankie has lots of cream and ivory. We found the perfect compromise in the White/Tint Tone on Tone Floral 108” wide fabric for her backing. It’s creamy like the hankies with a touch of white like her blocks! White/Tint Tone on Tone Floral 108" wide fabric for quilt backings The edge to edge design she chose was the Feathered Flower pantograph. This quilt feels very vintage and traditional. I thought a feathered pantograph with a traditional look would be great with this quilt. Anita was leaning towards a design with a more floral feel. We agreed the Feathered Flower was the perfect balance of floral and tradition. Anita made a beautiful Vintage Hankie quilt and brought it to Angela Huffman for machine quilting.
