THE POSITION OVERVIEW
We are a fast growing company with a strong national following in the quilting industry. We firmly believe that creative expression is a core human experience and that when a person explores their creativity the world is a better place for it.
We are seeking a dynamic, friendly and personable individual to join our team as a full-time Sewing Machine Sales Associate & Education Coordinator at our national quilt shop. The ideal candidate will be passionate about people, possess exceptional customer service skills, and thrive in a role that involves connecting with and nurturing individuals within the quilting community. While sewing experience is not required, a genuine enthusiasm for engaging with customers and promoting our products and services is essential. This person will need to be comfortable with basic computer skills including simple spreadsheets.
You will be our full time primary sewing machine salesperson, earning both an base hourly wage plus a commission. You will be surrounded by quilting goodness all while spoiling our incredibly friendly and kind customer base. You are going to LOVE them! You will pet fabric, play with thread, admire spectacular quilts and help us grow our thriving quilt shop. RESPONSIBILITIES AND JOB SUMMARY
Proactively engage with customers to understand their needs and provide tailored recommendations regarding sewing machines and related products.
Follow up on sales leads and inquiries, providing prompt and knowledgeable assistance to potential customers.
Coordinate and promote our adult educational sewing classes, including scheduling, registration, and assisting with coordinating class supply lists as needed.
Ensure seamless coordination of machine servicing by checking in machines for repairs with an eye towards helping those who would be better served by stepping up into a modern sewing machine.
Answer incoming inquiries regarding sewing machines, offering guidance and assistance to address customer questions and concerns.
Assist with general retail sales duties as needed, including cashiering and maintaining a tidy and welcoming store environment.
Qualifications
Previous experience in sales, with a proven track record of meeting or exceeding sales targets.
Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to build rapport and establish meaningful connections with customers.
Strong customer service orientation, with a genuine desire to assist and support individuals within the quilting community.
Highly organized and detail-oriented, with the ability to manage multiple tasks and priorities effectively.
Shift is Tuesday-Saturday dayside schedule.
Physical demands: This position involves constant moving, talking, hearing, reaching, grabbing and standing for at least two consecutive hours. Stooping, kneeling, crouching, lifting up to 20 lbs.
Ideally you have a background in sewing or quilting already and live within 40 miles of Louisville but if you aren’t a sewist, don’t fret. We will teach you everything. It is more important that you are a people person who can nurture and celebrate another person’s creative endeavors. A college degree is a plus but not required.
