I've written before about how much we enjoy the variety of quilts that our renters bring in to quilt. This post will reflect some of that variety - have fun! 1600 inch quilt First, we have a jelly roll quilt pieced and quilted by Judy. Some call this design the "1600-Inch Quilt" because it uses a jelly roll, typically 40 strips which are approximately 40 usable inches long. Judy quilted this top with the Funky Fleur de Lys pantograph and lavender thread. 1600 inch quilt Campbell Ridge Elementary School Next, Pat S. brought in this top which was created by the fifth grade class of Campbell Ridge Elementary School as a gift to the school. The school's mascot is the Comet, so that is what is pictured here. The students made their own fabric stamps and stamped the fabric either along the outer edge or in the comet's tail. Pat quilted the quilt from the front, using wavy lines to echo the comet's tail. She also outlined the stampings along the outer edge to create a faux border. Beautiful! Campbell Ridge Elementary School Campbell Ridge Elementary School Applique Baby Quilt Ginny learned how to use design boards during her rental certification class while quilting this top. Aren't all of the animals cute? The Double Bubble design board gave this quilt a playful overall texture that suits the theme perfectly. As a backing, Ginny used our extra-wide Cuddle Dot minkee-style fabric in baby blue. We have a great selection of colors of this fabric and it's so soft! Cuddle Dot Microfleece Baby Blue Carriage Ride Quilt Pat B. has been eagerly waiting to quilt this top, "Carriage Ride" by Country Sampler which was inspired by an antique carriage blanket. She wanted it to be soft and comfy, so she kept her quilting minimal. Pat did free motion loops in the nine-patch blocks and used a ruler for some basic straight lines across the big squares. Her thread is a khaki color that worked really well with the reds and greens as well as the neutrals. She plans to place yarn ties in the middle of the big squares to add country charm to this already beautiful quilt. Enjoy, Pat! Carriage Ride Quilt So how's that for variety?
