On Saturday, our fearless adventurers finished up their T-shirt quilts on the third day of T-Shirt Quilt Camp. In their first session, they learned how to use the heat press to stabilize their T-shirts, then selected a layout for their tops. In the second session, they cut out sashings and borders and assembled much of their tops. Once their tops were finished, both students chose to go through longarm certification so they could quilt their quilts (as well as others in the future!) on our APQS longarm quilting machines. Barb tests different layouts for her T-shirt quiltRent the Heat Press from Quilted Joy to interface your shirts for t-shirt quilts quickly and easily! Liz discusses the different options for laying out T-shirts in a quilt at Quilted Joy Pam brought T-shirts and other athletic clothing from her daughter's high school years at Sacred Heart Academy in Louisville. Ashley participated in a number of different activities, including cheerleading, volunteer groups, and student council. Pam chose Spot On, one of our wide-back fabrics, to back Ashley's quilt and it matched perfectly. She quilted it using our meander design board and loved how it turned out! Since she finished her project early, Pam brought another stack of T-shirts on Saturday and started her next quilt! Pam shows off the T-shirt quilt she made at Quilted Joy during the T-shirt Quilt Camp Shirt in a T-shirt Quilt Barb's quilt used up a small number of her husband's T-shirts in her first T-shirt quilt. Barb's husband competes frequently as a wheelchair athlete and has amassed quite a collection of T-shirts and finishing medals from these events. Our brand new wide back fabric, American Dreams, worked perfectly with her blue border and sashing. Barb chose the Star Dance pantograph for her quilting design and did a beautiful job. She will add segments of his ribbons by hand in the sashing, as well as other embellishments. Barb's husband is writing a book about his experiences and plans to use this quilt as a backdrop at his book signings. Watch for him at your local bookstore!
