Renters - Finishing Up Those UFOs
The unfinished objects (UFOs) keep getting quilted here at Quilted Joy! Here are a few projects recently finished by our renters.
We thought this would be a timely photo for December and have been saving it just for this post! Dianna was gifted these tree blocks through a lottery at her quilt guild and assembled them into a quilt. She brought the top with her to her second rental session and quilted it freehand from the front of the machine. The background is filled with a loopy meander and the trees are quilted with a herringbone pattern. Her border is quilted with overlapping arches that mimic the shape of the tree trunks. Looks great, Dianna!
Lisa and Lynn brought in panels for their rental certification class practice quilts. Yes, the grandmother's flower garden design is a printed panel, not an English paper-pieced top! This just goes to show that you don't need to bring in something fancy for your practice quilt - it can be a solid piece of fabric.
Donna brought in a reversible quilt recently. The front appears to be made by piecing strip sets that are then cut into triangles and reassembled into squares meeting at a center point. The back, as you can see from the picture, has a very definite center point. It took a little effort, but she was able to get her top positioned over the backing so that it was pretty well centered horizontally and vertically. She used the Kashmir pantograph for a light floral touch.
Pam quilted a wedding quilt for a co-worker. Each of the blocks was signed by a well-wis her before Pam assembled them into the quilt. She quilted the quilt using the Toss Up pantograph and a light-colored thread. What a wonderful and personal wedding gift!
Our schedule is filling up now with renters who are finishing holiday gifts - be sure to reserve your time so that you have plenty of time to bind!
