Marietta's Blues: A Beautiful Antique Quilt
Nancy brought me this vintage quilt that her Grandmother Marietta made many, many years ago. It was well worn and the binding was shredded in places. She wanted new binding made and placed on her quilt to give it new life. We found a yellowy cheddar print that was a good match but the scrolls on the print weren't right. Fortunately, the "wrong" side of the fabric was a perfect compliment to the colorway of the top. I just used the wrong side as the right side and it is perfect!
One of my favorite things is breathing new life into the work of women who are no longer with us. Marietta was obviously a talented woman who was a talented hand quilter. I know she would be pleased to see her quilt renewed and loved.
