Jodi's Celtic Solstice
Double wedding band quilts are not the only quilt with circles out there. If you are looking for a pattern that has that large circle motif in it, you might want to look at Bonnie Hunter’s Celtic Solstice quilt. Jodi made one that I quilted for her, and it looks amazing!
This amazing quilt is hard to describe and still do it justice. The overall look of the quilt is the classic orange peel design consisting of large concentric circles in a grid that’s on point to the quilt.
The grid is made up of four patched squares touching corners. In the center of the circles is a pinwheel set in a square frame also on point. Close up the blocks are intricate and beautiful, and given some distance you see the larger circles made up of a jumble of colors.
Jodi had us quilt this piece with an edge to edge design called Paisley Cypress. This design is quite large, mixing both floral and feather elements.
It really looks amazing with all the bright colors that are mixed together as they are. She found the perfect yellow backing here in the shop that complements all those colors. The colors are a little playful, and a little formal all at the same time which matches this beautiful and colorful quilt.
