Embroidered Baby Quilt
Have you ever made a special baby quilt for a precious little angel? I think baby quilts are my favorite things to work on. There is so much hope, joy, and love wrapped up in a baby quilt.
This one was made for a new granddaughter of a customer of mine. She wanted to wait until the baby was born to finish the quilt so she could add the birthday and weight.
Take a look at the little lamb. Do you see the swirly fur? I used that as the launching point in deciding what filler design to use behind the embroidery. I wanted to stay off the name and birth info so those words would draw the eye. In order to do that, I added a double frame around those embroidered elements. I also added detailing to the embroidery using monofilament polyester thread since this quilt is going to be used and not hung on a wall.
The small inner border got a double bubble, circle in circle motif while the outside border got a pattern full of binkies, bottles, rattles, and bears. Be sure not to miss the binding she selected. It is a striped fabric that will add just the right amount of zing to that outer edge. Love it!
