The Ky State Fair closed on Sunday so I went to pick up all of our goodies on Monday. This year the kids really did well. I hope to finally get some time this coming year so I can enter something myself. It is hard to do that when I have to help the kidlets with questions on their projects. They do absolutely everything on these quilty items except use the rotary cutter to cut out the fabric. They are 13 now so they might be getting close to the age where I would consider giving them a rotary cutter to use. Right now, though, they aren't ready. They sure would love to use it. Blue Ribbon for kitty block GooseyGirl entered a lot of things this year. Her most entries ever! This is her blue ribbon, first place entry. It is that kitty block on the top with the hot pink border. She did a great job on it. She also embellished it with buttons for the eyes. tote bag This is her tote bag and it got a red, second place ribbon. Her quilt, "Broken Pencils", won fourth place. This quilt was an original design by GooseyGirl. She used a variegated thread and even hand stitched the binding down. BTW- she has decided she is allergic to binding. I assured her that most people were. :) broken pencil quilt pot holder She got an honorable mention for her quilted pot holder. This little machine embroidered birdie wall hanging turned out so nice but it didn't get any love from the judges at all. She worked many, many hours on it and did machine applique too. Unfortunately there wasn't a category for machine quilted wall hanging- just hand quilted or tied. So... she had to enter it in a miscellaneous stitchery category. machine embroidered wall hanging I'm proud of her. She did a wonderful job and is a great quilter! Next up... BirdMan's entries!
