Latest Renters at Quilted Joy
It's been a while since I've posted about renters, and it's not that we haven't had any renters, there just hasn't been enough time to post about them! I'm slowly working my way through the pictures and notes from the renters. I'm hoping I'll be caught up eventually!
Stephanie brought in a traditional log cabin quilt with a slightly untraditional color scheme. This quilt is for her grandson whose bedroom has lots of darker colors. When she started the quilt, she wasn’t sure about the color scheme, but as the quilt came together she saw how nice it looked. I especially like the pop of red at the center of each cabin. While choosing her paper pantograph she declared “I can’t have anything girly”. Usually when someone says that I like to recommend the Square Spiral pantograph, but unfortunately another renter beat her to it. Instead she used Hurricane, another great pantograph for more masculine quilts that adds a lot of fun movement.
Cheryl is one of my newbie renters, and for her certification class she did something most are too afraid to try for a long time: free motion quilting. She said she's not very interested in using the pantographs and really wants to get into custom quilting. So she figured she might as well just jump right in with a free motion loopy meander on her rail fence quilt. She did a great job and I'm so proud of her for not letting fear or nerves stop her from doing what she really wanted!
