Something special is coming to Quilted Joy this fall, and it is designed just for the next generation of makers. We are creating a brand new sewing experience for creative tweens and teens, ages 9 and up, who are ready to explore sewing in a fun, encouraging, and welcoming space.

Whether your child already loves crafting or is just getting started, this program is designed to help them grow real skills while building confidence along the way. Students will not just learn how to sew. They will learn how to create something they are proud of.

A Thoughtful Approach to Learning

This experience is structured to guide students step by step while keeping creativity at the center. As they progress, they will learn foundational sewing skills, garment basics, quilting techniques, and how to bring their ideas to life through hands on projects.

Everything is designed to feel approachable. Students are not rushed. Instead, they build skills gradually, gaining confidence with every stitch.

For example, a student might begin by learning how to safely use a sewing machine and sew a straight seam. Before long, they are completing projects they designed themselves. That kind of growth is what makes this experience so rewarding.

How It Works

Classes are thoughtfully structured to give students time to truly practice and grow. Each unit runs for 6 weeks, giving them space to focus, build confidence, and complete projects they are excited about. As they progress through 4 skill levels, each made up of 6 units, skills build naturally step by step so learning feels manageable and never overwhelming.

Along the way, students will:

  • Learn new techniques step by step
  • Practice through real, hands on projects
  • Build independence with sewing tools and machines
  • Gain confidence solving small challenges

The goal is simple. Help students feel capable and excited to keep creating.

Just as important, this is a space where they feel supported. A place where creativity is encouraged, mistakes are part of learning, and every student is cheered on as they grow. Take a look at the projects we'll be completing in each unit:

Start with a Strong Foundation

Before joining regular classes, all students will begin with an introductory workshop designed to set them up for success.

This workshop helps students become comfortable with:

  • Sewing machine basics
  • Safety skills
  • Cutting and pinning techniques
  • Simple construction

They will also complete a beginner friendly project, giving them a sense of accomplishment right from the start.

It is the perfect first step, especially for beginners.

If you have a child who loves to create, this is a wonderful place for them to begin. And if they are unsure, that is okay too. This was designed to meet them exactly where they are.

Help Us Inspire the Next Generation of Makers!

As we prepare to welcome our first students, we are also looking for a few special helpers to be part of the experience.

What Is a Classroom Fairy?

A Classroom Fairy is someone who helps the classroom run smoothly while young makers are learning and creating. That might look like helping a student thread a needle, pressing a seam, finding a missing pin, tidying supplies, or offering encouragement when something feels tricky. Sometimes it is simply being there to cheer them on.

Who Makes a Great Classroom Fairy?

If you are patient, warm, and enjoy being around creative kids, you are already a great fit. You do not need to be an expert. You just need to be willing to help. Many of our Fairies love sewing or quilting. Others simply enjoy supporting creativity and being part of a welcoming environment. Either way, your presence helps make the classroom feel encouraging and supportive.

Be the Helping Hands Behind the Magic!

If this sounds like something you would love to be part of, we would be so happy to have you join us. Simply reach out to our team at Quilted Joy or stop by the shop to let us know you are interested. We will share the details, upcoming class times, and help you find the perfect fit. It is a small commitment that makes a big difference, and a meaningful way to support the next generation of makers.

A Creative Season Ahead

This is more than a sewing class. It is a place where creativity grows, confidence is built, and young makers discover what they are capable of.

We cannot wait to welcome these students into the classroom this fall and watch their skills and imagination come to life, one stitch at a time. Stay tuned for registration details, and get ready for a season full of creativity, learning, and a little bit of magic.
