Kathy's finished Lone Star Quilt
It is done and delivered! Kathy loves it and I think I've convinced her that she should enter it in the KY state fair. It is stunning in person. She made this for her daughter in Florida and it will have matching shams on her bed. Kathy knew her daughter wanted fall colors and quilting that was a bit more contemporary in design. Traditionally a lone star would have feathered wreaths and feathered setting triangles.
Kathy and I found a great foliage set from One Song Needle Arts and it worked really well on this quilt. The batting is a Quilter's Dream Poly/Cotton blend that is snuggly all by itself. I'd love to get a roll of this stuff. It is really supple and drapes beautifully. My favorite area of the quilt is the light green border with the scallop rose motifs and beautiful corner. I used a green thread that would stand out against that background in order to draw attention to it. It looks like embroidery, doesn't it? Love it!
I told Kathy that this was one quilt that was hard to give back to her. I know I'll never make a lone star of my own and her's is gorgeous! Do you think she should enter it in a show? Let me hear you in the comments!
