Karee was busy this summer and fall working on quilts for Christmas. These two sampler or block of the month quilts were two of five(!) quilts I quilted for her in just the last few months. Longarm quilter Angela Huffman added a simple meander to Karee's two sampler quilts. On this blue and purple quilt, it looks like Karee was playing a lot with triangles and half square triangles in particular. I really enjoy the colors in this quilt. I find those cool blues, greens, and purples very calming. I'm also intrigued by this floral backing fabric she brought in. I've seen it a few times in other quilts this year. And again, she found a really interesting backing fabric. I can't decide what I think this is - a spider's web or a network of nerves? green backing On both of these quilts I added a basic meander. When a piecer worked this hard I don't want the quilting to steal the show. I also really like to use an Omni thread on these kinds of quilts. Omni is a Tex 30 (approximately 40 weight) thread with a simple matte finish. When you find the perfect color for your quilt it can just blend right in!
