For me, hanging new quilts is like a fresh coat of paint on the walls. Especially since painting the walls in the longarm studio requires renting a scissor lift! Last May Liz was gracious enough to lend me a few of her quilts to display. They look beautiful hanging in the studio, but Liz is ready to have her quilts back! Members of the longarm guild that meets here are lending some of their quilts and we have some fresh beauties to share with you all! Debbie's Gravity block of the month quilt on display at Quilted Joy Debbie has been renting the APQS longarm machines here at Quilted Joy for a little over a year now. She always brings in really beautiful - and often very colorful - quilts! At our guild meeting this week, we couldn't help but poke a little fun at her because every quilt she brings in is massive! The two quilts on display from Debbie were too big for the dowel rods and we had to fold the edges in. This first quilt is called Gravity. It was a block of the month at the nearby Cozy Quilter. Aren't the colors absolutely stunning? And can you see the rainbow striped fabric she used for the binding? It's such a beautiful quilt! Called Fresh Cut, she made this quilt in a class taught by one of our good friends Mary Bauer. I love the contrast of the dark grey with the bright colors! Beth's Sparkly Chicken Quilt on display at Quilted Joy This next quilt by Beth is so much fun! One of the groups Beth is a member of is called the Sparkly Chickens. For their first swap, everyone had to make a chicken and it had to be sparkly! I think this chicken is my favorite, she just looks so regal! Detail of chicken from the Sparkly Chicken quilt by Beth Hunter This quilt was Beth's entry in the guilds first UFO challenge. She pieced the quilt years ago, and finally quilted it in January.
