UPDATE: This class has sold out! I still have room in the showroom for any George owners who would like to bring their machine to the class. I am also trying to get a couple more machines for the Longarm Schoolhouse, if you would like to be added to the waiting list please call at (502) 718-7148. Thank you all so much for all the support!

For many quilters, taking that first step into custom quilting will be the most intimidating part of their quilting journey. It seems like there are so many factors to consider and there are certainly many fears to overcome. When teaching Sculpted Quilting, my goal is to help you get past those first steps so you have the confidence to tackle the next custom quilting project that comes your way.

Sculpted Quilting, taught by Angela Huffman - QuiltedJoy.com

The first part of the day will be spent drawing, drafting, and designing on top of a pre-marked and enlarged quilt block. We will discuss the many tricks to reading quilt tops and determining what designs will look best in a block. Learn new continuous line designs that will fill in your block without constantly stopping and starting.

After a break for lunch, we’ll move to the machine and begin stitching out our designs. You’ll dive into simple straight line quilting and easy ruler work that will provide the structure needed to carve out spectacular sculpted quilting. This will be a great opportunity to try out  new background fillers in addition to rulers and templates and their many applications! Each student will get their own longarm machine, you won’t have to rush through your quilting so that someone else can have their turn on the machine. At the end of the day, you’ll have a beautiful wholecloth sampler to take home! Don’t forget to bring along your phone or camera so you can snap a quick picture of your classmates’s designs.
