Memorial Tshirt quilt
You might have seen the label I posted a few days ago. Well, here is the quilt that goes with it. This was a memorial quilt made up of shirts from a much loved man who passed away. It is a gift from his kids to his wife for Christmas. They gave me a couple of his ties and were hoping I could incorporate them somehow into the quilt. I wasn't sure when I took them what I could do but I quickly realized that they'd look great just top stitched down on one of the plain shirt squares. Take a look at the denim shirt block. I kept the pocket in tact so it is a functional pocket. I envision the adult children writing a little note to their mom and quietly putting it in there for her to find. I also positioned it so she could use it to pop her remote into when she is using the quilt snuggled up on the couch. Making memorial tshirt quilts is one of my favorite things to do in my business. I feel such a sense of blessing when I work with a family. It is a celebration of a special person and an acknowledgment of the love that endures.
