Happy Independence Day! I hope everyone is planning on having a spectacular holiday. I wanted to take a moment to remind everyone that the shop will be closed on Wednesday July 4. We'll be back to our normal hours on Thursday. In case you needed a little something to get you in the patriotic spirit, I thought I'd share with you some of my favorite patriotic quilts from over the years. All of these quilts came from customers dropping them off for me to quilt or from longarm renters who quilted these themselves in the studio. Take a look, and let me know which is your favorite!

Bonnie is Feeling a Bit Like Betsy Ross

In 2013 Bonnie was on a roll, piecing together tons of quilts for the Quilts of Valor project. I quilted this one for her with an intricate edge to edge design featuring stars, eagles, and flags. Bonnie is a bit of an inspiration to me. When we first met she told me she wouldn't be quilting much longer because her eyesight was failing and her hands just didn't work like they used to. The next time I saw her, she had changed her mind. She was going to quilt as much as she wanted just because she loves it that much! Click here to see more of Bonnie's quilt.

Isn't this quilt just gorgeous? It looks like a flag in it's own right! I would love to know the name of the pattern if anyone out there knows. Nancy's Patriotic Beauty

Nancy rented time on an APQS Millie to quilt this beauty. She said she planned to donate this to a fundraiser and I'm sure it earned a pretty penny for the organization. She quilted this with our Orange Peel design board for a traditional quilting pattern and lots of yummy texture. Click here to see more of Nancy's quilt.

Stars and Stripes Quilt

Just like Nancy, JoAnna donated this Stars and Stripes quilt. Her grandson's ice hockey team has a benefit game every year to fundraise for the Wounded Warrior Project. I love the simplicity of her design with the applique stars flying across the top. Click here to see more of JoAnna's quilt.
