Do you belong to a guild in your area? If not, I highly suggest you find one and meet your new friends!

My local guild is the Louisville Nimble Thimbles and they’ve been a part of my life for over 20 years now. Guilds offer a way to learn quilting techniques, have some fun sewing with others and support your local community that have special needs.

The Nimble Thimble group has a Cuddle Care program that makes quilts for kids who are patients in local hospitals. The guild members make kiddo sized quilt tops and once a year they come take over our 5 lovely APQS long arm quilting machines to get them all done in one glorious day of machine quilting!

This annual event is always one of the highlights of our Quilt Fairy year here at Quilted Joy. We love working together to bless our community with quilty love. When my triplets were little, I had one kiddo who was admitted to the hospital with a serious issue and I was adrift in worry, prayers and tears.

Imagine my delight when the nurses came by with a quilt to wrap up my toddler that was made by my loving guild. It was a full circle moment for me. Knowing complete strangers were there holding me up with the love held in each stitch was a real blessing to me in that moment of need.

So, how many quilts did we get done in one day?

Can you guess?

The total count was 64! Amazing, right? It make my little heart so happy knowing there are 64 families who will be comforted by a quilt.
