How to Machine Quilt a QOV
Bonnie has brought me a number of quilts lately and they are all patriotic themed designs. She is quilting for the Quilts of Valor project with her bee. Choosing a quilting motif to go on top of a patriotic quilt like this can be a challenge. I have a few edge to edge designs I think look perfect on them. They feature stars or loops or, in this case, eagles! You can find photos and examples of great patriotic edge to edge designs by clicking here. If you’d prefer to quilt your patriotic quilts on a sit down domestic machine then a watch this video showing how to do a simple loopy design.
Delectable Mountain Pattern Variation
She is kind of an inspiration. She told me that her hands don’t work the way they used to and her eyesight isn’t the best. The first time we met she said she wasn’t going to be quilting much longer and wanted me to finish up her tops so they will get done.
The next time we met she said she’s decided that she just doesn’t care if her body won’t fully cooperate… she is going to quilt, quilt, quilt because she just loves it.
Don’t Miss These Other QOV
I’ve got a roundup article showing a number of other Quilts of Valor special projects I’ve quilted that you can find by clicking here. Don’t miss this amazing patriotic quilt made from a Drunkard’s Path block or this one that uses simple rail fence blocks with simple star blocks!
Choosing Thread Colors for Your QOV
Selecting the right color thread to use on a quilt with so many bold colors can be challenging. I have a great article all about choosing threads on high contrast quilts. Don’t miss it!
Congrats on continuing to make QOV I’m sure the recipients do not look for perfection but appreciate your hard work. The quilt looks pretty good to me and Ilove the quilting. I make QOVand have them quilted similarly. Keep up the good work.
I would love to know the pattern of this quilt. It is very intriguing and would love to make it….
