The TL-2000Qi is a portable, single needle lockstitch machine with an aluminum die-cast arm and bed. That casting is the reason people who bought one still talk about it: the weight sits still while the needle runs at 1,500 stitches a minute, so the stitch stays even through a pieced seam, a quilt sandwich or four layers of denim. There is no zigzag on it and no bank of decorative stitches, which is a large part of why the straight stitch is as good as it is.
A big surface on a machine you can carry
There are 8.5 inches to the right of the needle, and the auxiliary table brings the work surface up to about 23 inches. The machine itself weighs 25.4 lbs and measures 17.75 by 8.5 by 9 inches, which is why so many of these went to retreats and guild nights.
Light where the needle is
An LED sits directly above the needle and pools on the plate, which is what you want at eleven at night with dark thread on dark fabric. The needle stops down when you take your foot off, so you can lift the presser foot and turn the quilt without losing your place in the seam.
An industrial hook and a bobbin that lasts
A horizontal-axis full-rotary hook takes the larger L style bobbin, so you get further into a quilt before you stop to rewind. The bobbin loads from the side through a sliding plate you can reach with the quilt still under the needle.
The rest of what it does
Drop the feed dogs with a lever for free-motion quilting. Trim both threads with the button or by rocking back on your heel, and fit the foot switch stopper if you would rather that heel tap did nothing. The needle threader saves your eyes. The presser foot lifts from 7mm up to 12mm, by hand or with the knee lifter, and the pressure regulator lets you lighten the foot for fine cottons or press harder on bulk. Stitch length adjusts on a dial up to 6mm, and the tension scale is numbered so a good setting can be written down.

What was the warranty on a new JUKI TL-2000Qi?
JUKI America warrants a new home sewing machine to the original purchaser for five years on parts and two years on the motor, light assembly, wiring, switches, circuit boards and speed control. It covers normal household use in the United States and Canada, is not transferable, and asks that the machine be serviced periodically by an authorized JUKI dealer. Ours is that bench, here in Louisville.
Where can I get parts and feet for a TL-2000Qi?
