Machine Information

The one where everything just flows

The Triumph is the top of Baby Lock's serger line, and what that buys you is the removal of every step that normally stands between wanting to sew and sewing. Press one button and air threads the loopers. Press another and it threads the needles. There are no tensions to balance, because Automatic Thread Delivery measures the thread out for the stitch you picked. Eight, seven or six threads give you 87 stitch combinations, including the Wave Stitch that no other brand makes. You get five inches of space to the right of the needle and six lights over the work.

This is the top of the line Baby Lock serger. It has incredible capabilities and is a joy to use. Call us at (502) 718-7148 or send us an email. The Quilt Fairies and I sew on these every week, and we will tell you plainly where the Triumph earns its price over the Acclaim or the Splendor and how it differs.

RevolutionAir™: the loopers and the needles

Drop the thread into a port and press push to thread loopers. Air carries it through the tubular loopers and out where it belongs. Then engage the needle threader and press again, and the needles are threaded too. Most air threading sergers stop at the loopers and hand the needles back to you with a pair of tweezers. Threading both is what makes an eight thread machine practical rather than theoretical, because a color change stops being a reason to leave a project half finished.

Five rows of the Baby Lock Wave Stitch sewn in silver thread across aqua fabric, each row a different width and density.

87 stitch combinations, and one you can only get here

Overlock, flatlock, chain stitch and cover stitch across 8, 7 and 6 thread setups. Stitch width dials from 1.5mm to 7.5mm and opens to 16mm on the expressive stitches. Stitch length dials from 0.75mm to 4mm and drops into an automatic rolled hem on the same dial. The Wave Stitch is Baby Lock's own, driven by its own dedicated thread delivery unit, and it turns a plain edge into the finish on the garment rather than the thing you hide inside it.

Curved rows of cover stitch and chain stitch sewn in a lattice across teal fabric on the Baby Lock Triumph.

Cover stitch that chains off by itself

Single, double and triple cover stitch, plus chain stitch, and the Triumph chains off a cover stitch automatically at the end of a run. You are not pulling the work out from under the foot and knotting thread tails by hand on every hem. It handles the heavier fabrics too, which is where a cover stitch usually goes wrong. Vertical needle penetration keeps the needles from deflecting and pushing your fabric off the line you meant to sew.

Five inches of room and six lights on the needle

Five inches to the right of the needle is the largest throat space Baby Lock puts on a serger, and it is the difference between a quilt-sized panel moving through the machine and a quilt-sized panel bunching against it. Six LEDs light the needle from more than one direction, so the presser foot is not casting a shadow across the stitch line you are trying to follow. On decorative work running yards at a time, both of those stop being luxuries.

Your speed, and both hands on the fabric

Variable speed control sets the machine's ceiling rather than asking your foot to hold a pace, so you can run 1,500 stitches a minute down a long seam and then slow the whole machine right down for a curve or a decorative pass. The attachable knee lift raises the presser foot without either hand leaving your work. Full feature differential feed runs 2 to 1 for gathering and 3 to 4 for stretching, so knits come out flat instead of wavy, and the advanced knife system takes a bigger cutting bite through thick fabric with a clear view of the trim line.

Baby Lock Triumph Serger Machine — Frequently Asked Questions

What is the Baby Lock Triumph?

The Triumph is the top of Baby Lock's serger line. It is an 8/7/6 thread serger with 87 stitch combinations, RevolutionAir threading for both the loopers and the needles, the Automatic Thread Delivery tension system, the exclusive Wave Stitch, 5 inches of space to the right of the needle and 6 LED lights.

How is the Triumph different from the Acclaim or the Splendor?

The Acclaim is a 4/3/2 thread serger. The Splendor is an 8/7/6 thread combination serger but threads only its loopers with air. The Triumph threads the loopers and the needles at the push of a button, has the largest throat space Baby Lock puts on a serger at 5 inches, six lights instead of three, a knee lift and variable speed control. If you are not sure the difference is worth the money for the sewing you do, call us at (502) 718-7148 and we will talk it through.

Is the Triumph hard to thread?

No. Drop the thread into a port and press the button, and air carries it through the tubular loopers. Engage the needle threader and press again, and the needles are threaded. Most air threading sergers stop at the loopers and leave the needles to you and a pair of tweezers.

What is the Wave Stitch?

The Wave Stitch is a decorative edge stitch exclusive to Baby Lock, driven on the Triumph by its own dedicated thread delivery unit. It is used to make the finished edge part of the design rather than something to hide on the inside of a garment.

Do I have to adjust tension on the Triumph?

No. The Automatic Thread Delivery system measures out the exact amount of thread each stitch needs, so stitches stay balanced across quilting cotton, denim, knits and specialty threads without you rebalancing dials.

Can I pay for the Triumph over time?

You will see a Shop Pay Installments payment estimate on this page. Choose Shop Pay at checkout to split the purchase into payments if you qualify. On a machine at this price it is worth calling the shop at (502) 718-7148 so we can walk you through every option.
