ExtraordinAir® threading: a gust of air, not a pair of tweezers

Press the lever and ExtraordinAir carries thread through all three loopers at once. There is no threading order to memorize and no tweezers involved, because the loopers are tubular with no exposed thread path. This is the feature that decides how often you actually reach for your serger, since changing thread color stops being a project of its own.

Eight threads, 87 stitch combinations

Overlock, flatlock, chain stitch and cover stitch, in 8, 7 and 6 thread setups. Stitch width dials from 1.5mm to 7.5mm and opens to 16mm on the expressive stitches. Stitch length dials from 0.75mm to 4mm, and the same dial drops into a built-in rolled hem when you need a narrow finish on a scarf or a ruffle. Full feature differential feed runs 2 to 1 for gathering and 3 to 4 for stretching, so knits come out flat instead of wavy.

Cover stitch hems that look ready to wear

Single, double and triple cover stitch, plus chain stitch in left, center and right positions. The Splendor chains off a cover stitch automatically, so you are not pulling the work out and knotting thread tails by hand at the end of every hem. The included chain and cover flat sewing table has two sets of positioning screws, which is what lets you add the Knit and Woven Bias Binders and the Fabric and Hemming Guide.

Tension you set once, on fabric that keeps changing

The Automatic Thread Delivery™ system measures out the exact amount of thread each overlock stitch needs, whether you are running quilting cotton, four layers of denim or a slippery rayon knit. You are not stopping to rebalance dials every time the fabric changes. Vertical needle penetration keeps the needle from deflecting and shoving your fabric off line, and the looper drive system holds the loopers in alignment so they stay timed over years of use.

Room to work and light to see by

You get 2 inches of workspace to the right of the needle, which is what keeps a large project moving instead of bunching against the machine. Three LED lights hit the needle from more than one direction so the presser foot does not throw a shadow across your stitch line. The knee lifter raises the presser foot so both hands stay on your fabric, the foot itself adjusts up to 6mm for lofty or layered work, and the advanced knife driving system cuts thick fabric cleanly with a clear view of the trim line. The Deluxe Trim Bin sits low enough that you can still reach every adjustment dial.
