New Year Means New Longarmers
After a wonderful and long break for the holidays, it was time to jump back into work, and we went at it full force!
Several renters came in last week, including Kathleen who completed her rental certification class. This was her first time ever using a longarm machine, and she was feeling a little intimidated. Like many newbies, she took one look at the Millie and thought it must be incredibly complicated to run this machine! Kathleen was so pleased when she felt how easily Millie moves with the Bliss table.
Kathleen put this quilt together from the scraps of a grandmother’s garden quilt she’s been working on. For that edge-to-edge pattern she used a design board. Kathleen did a great job and I hope she’ll be back soon to finish another quilt top!
I also had another round of Beginning Longarm Classes. The freezing cold temperatures kept the class really small, but I think it worked out well. My students on the first day had all just had their Intelliquilters installed over the holidays, so they had lots of great questions. And because everyone had an IQ it was no problem to dedicate some time to computerized quilting! Thanks so much to Ginger, Mike, Geri, and Liz for facing the cold and coming to the class! Registration is now open for the next APQS Beginning Longarm Class on May 15, 10am-4pm and the Advanced Beginner Longarm Class on May 16, 12-4pm. Space is limited so sign up soon!
And our first signs of spring arrived, via UPS! I can’t get over how cute these quilter’s cotton flat folds are with the adorable owls and their umbrellas. Some of the owls even have rain boots on! Can we skip ahead to spring please?
