Nautical Applique Wall Hanging
Is this nautical quilt not the cutest thing you've seen today??
Pam made this as a first birthday present for her grandson, and I bet you can't guess what his family's favorite hobby is! There is so much fun applique on this quilt, I think my favorite is the boat with "ss Dylan" embroidered on it. It is a wall hanging for little Dylan's nursery, but I think his mom and dad are gonna need to keep an eye on it - Dylan might love it too much and try to use it.
For the quilting, Pam wanted to keep with the nautical theme. I think a boat pantograph might be a little too busy and distract from her applique. There are a lot of stars in the quilt, and we agreed the Stars Pantograph would be a great fit. The one thing I did have to look out for was the tassel on the anchor. Of course we wanted the tassel to stay fairly loose on the quilt, so I had to really watch what was happening as I approached it.
When it's all put together it looks so adorable! Pam had such perfect timing with this quilt too. About a week after I finished the quilting I was headed to Iowa for a taping of Fons & Porter's Love of Quilting where I was talking about all over, edge to edge quilting. I took along her quilt and it's hanging on the set! The episode will probably air in the Kentucky area sometime next year, and I hope Pam remembers to record it so she can show Dylan his quilt on TV.
