This machine was refurbished by PFAFF, not by us, and it carries the same warranty a new one does. We have one. When it is gone it is gone, so call if you want it held while you think.
The quilt expression 720 sits in the part of PFAFF's line where a machine stops being a tool and starts being a workshop. It has 428 stitches, nearly 10 inches to the right of the needle, and Maxi Stitches that run up to 52mm wide.
Buying it factory refurbished is how you get to this level of machine without paying for it new. It does not embroider. Everything in it goes toward sewing, quilting and decorative work.
Original IDT, and 250mm of room
The Original IDT system moves the top layer at the same rate the feed dogs move the bottom one, so piecing lands where you pinned it and a quilt sandwich comes out square. It is built into the machine and has been PFAFF's signature since 1968.
There are nearly 10 inches (250mm) to the right of the needle, which is where a lap quilt or a length of batting actually goes while you work on it.
428 stitches, and Maxi Stitches to 52mm
Most decorative stitching is an accent. At 52mm wide, a Maxi Stitch is the design. Run one down a border or across a cushion front and it does the work a whole appliqué would have done.
Alongside them are PFAFF's own techniques, which you will not find on another brand: floating stitches, single, double and triple ribbon stitches, and stacking stitches. Four sewing fonts handle a label or a name. Everything shows on the 3.5 inch color touchscreen at the size it will sew.
The creative signature programs are the real reason to buy it
These are the features that separate a machine which has decorative stitches from one built for decorative work. Tapering narrows the start or end of any 9mm stitch at an angle you choose, which is how a decorative row finishes at a corner instead of stopping dead. Stitch positioning slides the whole stitch left or right so two rows line up. Stitch density changes how close the points sit without changing the stitch length.
The patchwork program repeats an exact seam length over and over, which is piecing done by the machine rather than by your eye. The single stitch program sews a set number of stitches and stops. And Stitch Creator lets you draw a new 9mm stitch point by point when none of the 428 is what you pictured.

Where the quilt expression 720 sits in the PFAFF line
The Creative Elevate 680 is the closest current machine, with a 7 inch screen and the option to add embroidery later. The Performance Icon is the dedicated sewing flagship, with 12.2 inches to the right of the needle and a 10.1 inch screen. PFAFF took the machine back, restored it themselves and warranted it as new. It is not a used machine we serviced, and it is not a floor model. The full PFAFF warranty applies exactly as it would on a brand new one.

The full PFAFF warranty for this machine: 20 years on the frame and 5 years on the electronic and electrical components, with replacement parts supplied free in both cases, and 1 year on the remaining mechanical parts including labor. Does the quilt expression 720 embroider?
No. It is a dedicated sewing and quilting machine. If you want PFAFF embroidery, the Creative Elevate 680 is a sewing machine you can add an embroidery unit to later, and the creative icon 2 sews and embroiders from day one.
