Machine Information
The TL-2010Q sews one stitch, and it sews it beautifully. It is a single needle lockstitch machine with an aluminum die-cast body, built on the bones of JUKI's industrial machines and sized for a home sewing room. Quilters buy it for piecing and free-motion work. Bag makers buy it because it goes through waxed canvas and faux leather without hesitating.
Room to move a quilt
You get 8.5 inches to the right of the needle and 6 inches of height, on a head shaved slim so you can see what you are doing. Fit the extension table and the work surface runs up to 23 inches, enough for a king-size quilt to lie flat while you stitch the middle of it.
Drop the feed dogs and take over
One lever drops the feed for free-motion quilting, and the needle stops in the down position every time you lift your foot, so the quilt stays exactly where you left it while you shift your hands. The quarter inch free-motion foot and the walking foot both come in the box.
Your knee does the lifting
The knee lifter slots into the front of the bed and raises the presser foot up to 12mm, so both hands stay on the quilt while you pivot at a corner. By hand the foot still lifts 9mm, which clears most bag seams.
Trim both threads without reaching
Press the trimmer button, or rock back on your heel, and the machine cuts the needle and bobbin threads together. The speed slider sets your top speed anywhere from 200 to 1,500 stitches a minute, so the same machine that races through a long seam can be walked one stitch at a time around applique.
Tension you can set and come back to
The tension dial is numbered, so when a thread works you can write the number down and find it again. A sub-tension unit steadies the upper thread before it reaches the discs, and the presser foot pressure regulator on top of the machine lets you lighten up for chiffon or lean on four layers of denim. Threads from fine piecing weights up to Tex 70 all run on it.

The Quilt Fairies and I sew on these machines, so when you call with a question about thread weight or a needle that keeps skipping, you are talking to someone who has had the same conversation with her own TL. Quilted Joy is an authorized JUKI dealer, our technicians service what we sell here in Louisville, and your TL-2010Q comes with free Juki Mechanical Pixie Playdate owner classes, as many as you would like to take.

JUKI asks that the machine be serviced periodically by an authorized dealer to keep that warranty in force, which is one more reason to buy it somewhere with a service bench. Ours is in Louisville, staffed by our own technicians, and your machine never has to leave the family to get cleaned and timed.
How the TL machines differ
The TL-15 is the same machine with a quilter's accessory set: it adds a front open toe free-motion foot and guide bars for the walking foot. If you would rather have the extra feet in the box than buy them later, that is the one to look at. Either way, call the Quilt Fairies at (502) 718-7148 and we will talk it through with you.

Other Machines to Consider
JUKI TL-2010Q Sewing and Quilting Machine — Frequently Asked Questions
What is the JUKI TL-2010Q?
The TL-2010Q is a single needle lockstitch sewing and quilting machine with an aluminum die-cast arm and bed. It sews straight stitch only, at up to 1,500 stitches per minute, with 8.5 inches by 6 inches of space to the right of the needle.
Does the TL-2010Q sew zigzag or decorative stitches?
No. The TL series makes one stitch, straight, which is why its stitch quality is what quilters and bag makers talk about. Stitch length adjusts up to 6mm.
How big is the work area on the TL-2010Q?
There are 8.5 inches to the right of the needle and 6 inches of height. Fit the extension table that comes in the box and the work surface runs up to about 23 inches, which is enough for a king-size quilt to lie flat.
What presser feet come with the TL-2010Q?
Four: the standard foot, a zipper attaching foot, a quarter inch free-motion foot and a walking foot. The extension table, knee lifter, bobbin case, bobbins, needles, oil and a soft cover come with it too.
Can the TL-2010Q do free-motion quilting?
Yes. One lever drops the feed dogs, the needle stops in the down position so the quilt stays put while you move your hands, and the quarter inch free-motion foot is included.
What thread and needles does the TL-2010Q take?
Needle system HAx1, also sold as 130/705H, in sizes 9 to 18. It uses the larger L style bobbin and handles thread from fine piecing weights up to Tex 70.
Can I finance the JUKI TL-2010Q?
Yes. Quilted Joy offers Shop Pay Installments, so you can split the purchase into payments. You will see an estimate under the price on this page and can check your eligibility in a few clicks.
What is the warranty on a new JUKI TL-2010Q?
JUKI America warrants a new home sewing machine to the original purchaser for five years on parts and two years on the motor, light assembly, wiring, switches, circuit boards and speed control. It covers normal household use in the United States and Canada, is not transferable, and asks that the machine be serviced periodically by an authorized JUKI dealer. Ours is that bench, here in Louisville.
Which Pixie Playdate class covers the TL-2010Q?
The mechanical one. The TL series is mechanical, so the free Juki Mechanical Pixie Playdate is the class for it. There is a separate Pixie Playdate for the computerized JUKI machines. Both are free, and you can come back as many times as you like.
Why buy the TL-2010Q from Quilted Joy?
Quilted Joy is a family-owned authorized JUKI dealer in Louisville, Kentucky, home of the Quilt Fairies and led by Angela Huffman, host of Fons & Porter's Love of Quilting on PBS. Our own technicians service what we sell, we hold 4.9 stars on Google and a 98% recommend rate on Facebook, and your machine comes with free unlimited Pixie Playdate owner classes.
