Machine Information
The TL-15 is JUKI's straight stitch workhorse packed for quilters. Under the covers it is the same aluminum die-cast, single needle lockstitch machine the TL series is known for, running up to 1,500 stitches a minute with 8.5 inches of room to the right of the needle. What sets this one apart is the box it arrives in: five presser feet, including a front open toe free-motion foot, and guide bars for the walking foot.
Everything a quilter reaches for, already in the box
The standard foot, a zipper attaching foot, a quarter inch free-motion foot, a front open toe free-motion foot and the walking foot all come with the machine, along with the guide bars that let the walking foot follow a line you have already stitched. Bought one at a time later on, that set adds up quickly.
Aluminum casting, and what it buys you
The arm and bed are die-cast aluminum rather than molded plastic. The weight is the point: 25 lbs of machine sits still while the needle runs at 1,500 stitches a minute, so the stitch stays the same length crossing a seam allowance as it was on the flat. Denim, waxed canvas and faux leather all go under it without ceremony.
One lever, and the quilt is yours to steer
Feed dogs come down with a lever when you are ready to quilt free motion, and the two icons printed beside it tell you which way is which without the manual. Set the needle to stop down and it will wait there, in the fabric, however long you take to reposition your hands. The knee lifter raises the presser foot up to 12mm, so you can turn a corner without letting go of the quilt.
A setting you can write down
Tension is set on a numbered scale rather than by feel, which means a setting you like is one you can note in the margin of a pattern and dial back in next year. A sub-tension unit steadies the upper thread on its way to the discs, and the presser foot pressure regulator on top of the machine lets you ease off for chiffon or bear down on layered denim.
Threading, trimming, and the speed you choose
A lever takes the thread through the needle for you. Press the trimmer button, or rock back on your heel, and both threads are cut at once. The speed slider sets your ceiling anywhere from 200 to 1,500 stitches a minute, so you can walk the needle around applique one stitch at a time or open it up for a long straight seam. The TL-15 takes threads from fine piecing weights up to Tex 70 and needles from a size 9 to a size 18.
Light on the plate, and a ruler on the bed
The LED sits over the needle and pools on the plate, which is what you want at eleven at night with dark thread on dark fabric. The seam guide is engraved along the front edge of the bed, so a quarter inch is something you can see rather than something you tape down. Fit the extension table and the work surface runs to about 23 inches, so a big quilt has somewhere to rest.

JUKI asks that the machine be serviced periodically by an authorized dealer to keep that warranty in force. We are that dealer, and the bench is here in Louisville with our own technicians on it, so a clean and a timing check does not mean shipping your machine to a stranger.
How it compares to the TL-2010Q
The TL-2010Q is the same machine underneath, with four presser feet in the box. The TL-15 adds the fifth foot, the front open toe free-motion foot, and the walking foot guide bars. If you already own the feet you want, look at the TL-2010Q. If you are starting from nothing and you quilt, the TL-15 saves you a shopping trip.

Other Machines to Consider
JUKI TL-15 Sewing and Quilting Machine — Frequently Asked Questions
What is the JUKI TL-15?
The TL-15 is a single needle lockstitch sewing and quilting machine with an aluminum die-cast arm and bed, sewing straight stitch only at up to 1,500 stitches per minute. It comes with a quilter's set of accessories.
How is the TL-15 different from the TL-2010Q?
The machines are the same underneath. The TL-15 adds a fifth presser foot, the front open toe free-motion foot, and guide bars for the walking foot. If you already own the feet you want, the TL-2010Q covers the same sewing.
What presser feet come with the TL-15?
Five: the standard foot, a zipper attaching foot, a quarter inch free-motion foot, a front open toe free-motion foot and a walking foot, plus the walking foot guide bars, extension table, knee lifter and a foot switch stopper.
How big is the work area on the TL-15?
8.5 inches to the right of the needle and 5.9 inches of height. With the extension table fitted the surface runs up to about 23 inches.
Can the TL-15 do free-motion quilting?
Yes. The feed dogs drop with a lever, the needle stops down so the quilt does not shift, and two free-motion feet come with the machine.
Does the TL-15 sew decorative stitches?
No. It is a dedicated straight stitch machine, with stitch length adjustable up to 6mm.
What thread and needles does the TL-15 take?
Needle system HAx1 in sizes 9 to 18, the L style bobbin, and thread from fine piecing weights up to Tex 70.
Can I finance the JUKI TL-15?
Yes. Quilted Joy offers Shop Pay Installments, so you can split the purchase into payments. You will see an estimate under the price on this page and can check your eligibility in a few clicks.
What is the warranty on a new JUKI TL-15?
JUKI America warrants a new home sewing machine to the original purchaser for five years on parts and two years on the motor, light assembly, wiring, switches, circuit boards and speed control. It covers normal household use in the United States and Canada, is not transferable, and asks that the machine be serviced periodically by an authorized JUKI dealer. Ours is that bench, here in Louisville.
Why buy the TL-15 from Quilted Joy?
Quilted Joy is a family-owned authorized JUKI dealer in Louisville, Kentucky, home of the Quilt Fairies and led by Angela Huffman, host of Fons & Porter's Love of Quilting on PBS.
