Machine Information

Kirei means beautiful in Japanese, and JUKI gave the name to the machine at the top of its home sewing line. The HZL-NX7 puts 12 inches of throat to the right of the needle, a color touch panel that remembers your settings, and JUKI Smart Feed dual feed built into the head. It is the machine you buy when the quilt has stopped fitting.

Twelve inches of room, and light across all of it

You get 12 inches to the right of the needle and 4.4 inches of height under the arm. With the extension table fitted, the lit working surface runs 22.4 by 13.6 inches, covered by dual LEDs plus two more lights aimed at the needle, and you can turn the brightness up or down. A quilt that used to sit on your shoulder now sits on the table.

Tension you set once and the machine remembers

Needle thread tension is digital. You set it on the touch panel and save it, then call it back next time you thread up with the same thread. The panel also holds presser foot pressure, the pivot function, the drop feed and the automatic trimmer, plus a user memory, a bobbin thread counter and an on-screen operation guide.

Dual feed that lives in the machine

JUKI Smart Feed pulls the top layer along in step with the bottom one, and you can trim how much it feeds in 0.2mm steps. Velvet stops creeping, plaids stay matched at the seam, and a quilt sandwich comes out the far side the same size it went in. There is no separate walking foot to fit and no extra shank to clear.

Stitch samples sewn on pale fabric by the JUKI Kirei HZL-NX7: a cable of scallops, a coral and teal applique square, the words I love U in stitched lettering, and a column of diamonds.

351 stitches, 20 buttonholes and four alphabets

The stitch library runs to 351 patterns, including 20 professional buttonholes and 4 lettering fonts. You can flip a pattern vertically or horizontally, stretch it out, repeat it and combine it with another, then save the combination. That is how a border gets a stitch nobody else has.

Free motion, ruler work and corners

The feed dogs drop at a button, and a clear ruler foot and quilt guide bar both come in the box, so ruler work is something you can try the first evening. Turn the pivot function on and the machine stops with the needle down and lifts the presser foot by itself, which is what makes stitching around applique feel unhurried.

The JUKI Kirei HZL-NX7 piecing pastel patchwork with a quarter inch guide foot and the straight stitch needle plate fitted.

A straight stitch plate you swap in

The interchangeable feed system swaps the wide needle plate and feed dogs for a straight stitch pair, both included. The needle then passes through a small round hole, so a fine cotton point cannot be drawn down into the opening at the start of a seam. Piecing gets cleaner and the quarter inch guide foot is in the box too.

Where the NX7 sits

The HZL-DX7 is the machine below it and shares the family look, the 1,050 stitch speed and the 12mm knee lift. The NX7 adds four more inches of throat, the color touch panel with digital tension, JUKI Smart Feed built in, and 64 more stitch patterns. If your quilts have outgrown the machine you own, this is the one to come and drive.

JUKI Kirei HZL-NX7 Sewing and Quilting Machine — Frequently Asked Questions

What is the JUKI Kirei HZL-NX7?

Kirei means beautiful in Japanese. The HZL-NX7 is JUKI's top computerized home sewing and quilting machine: 12 inches of throat to the right of the needle, a color touch panel, digital needle thread tension you can save, JUKI Smart Feed dual feed, and 351 stitch patterns.

How much room does the NX7 give me?

12 inches wide by 4.4 inches high to the right of the needle. With the extension table fitted the lit working surface runs 22.4 by 13.6 inches, under dual LEDs plus two more lights aimed at the needle, with adjustable brightness.

What is digital tension?

Needle thread tension is set on the touch panel rather than a dial, and saved to memory. When a setting works for a thread you can call it back next time instead of finding it again by feel. The panel also holds presser foot pressure, the pivot function, drop feed and the automatic trimmer.

What is JUKI Smart Feed?

It is a dual feed built into the machine that moves the top layer of fabric in step with the bottom layer, adjustable in 0.2mm steps. Velvet stops creeping, plaids stay matched, and a quilt sandwich comes out the size it went in. There is no separate walking foot to fit.

How many stitches does the NX7 have?

351 built-in patterns, including 20 professional buttonhole styles and 4 lettering fonts. Patterns can be flipped vertically or horizontally, elongated, repeated, combined and saved.

Can the NX7 do free-motion quilting and ruler work?

Yes. The feed dogs drop at the touch of a button, and a clear ruler foot and quilt guide bar both come in the box.

What is the interchangeable straight stitch feed system?

You swap the wide needle plate and feed dogs for a straight stitch pair, both included, so the needle passes through a small round hole. Fine fabrics are not drawn down into the opening at the start of a seam, which makes piecing cleaner.

Is the free arm accessory cover included?

No. The NX7 has a free arm for cuffs and sleeves, but the accessory storage free arm cover is sold separately. Worth knowing before the box arrives.

How is the NX7 different from the HZL-DX7?

Both sew at up to 1,050 stitches per minute and both take a 12mm knee lift. The NX7 adds four more inches of throat, the color touch panel with digital tension, JUKI Smart Feed dual feed and 64 more stitch patterns. Call the Quilt Fairies at (502) 718-7148 and we will help you choose.

Can I finance the JUKI Kirei HZL-NX7?

Yes. Quilted Joy offers Shop Pay Installments, so you can split the purchase into payments. You will see an estimate under the price on this page and can check your eligibility in a few clicks.

What is the warranty on a new JUKI Kirei HZL-NX7?

JUKI America warrants a new home sewing machine to the original purchaser for five years on parts and two years on the motor, light assembly, wiring, switches, circuit boards and speed control. It covers normal household use in the United States and Canada, is not transferable, and asks that the machine be serviced periodically by an authorized JUKI dealer. Ours is that bench, here in Louisville.

Which Pixie Playdate class covers the NX7?

The computerized one. The NX7, DX7, F300 and DX-4500QVP are all computerized, so the free Juki Computerized Pixie Playdate is the class for them. There is a separate Pixie Playdate for the mechanical TL series. Both are free and you can come back as often as you like.

Why buy the NX7 from Quilted Joy?

Quilted Joy is a family-owned authorized JUKI dealer in Louisville, Kentucky, home of the Quilt Fairies and led by Angela Huffman, host of Fons & Porter's Love of Quilting on PBS. Our own technicians service what we sell, we hold 4.9 stars on Google and a 98% recommend rate on Facebook, and your machine comes with free unlimited Pixie Playdate owner classes.
