Machine Information
The quilt ambition 635 is built around one idea: put PFAFF's Original IDT into a machine a quilter can actually lift, and give it the room and the stitches to finish a quilt.
It is 19.4 pounds, so it comes to retreat with you. It has 7.9 inches to the right of the needle, so a lap quilt has somewhere to go. And it has the dual feed system PFAFF has been building since 1968, which is the reason most people end up on this brand in the first place.
Original IDT, and why quilters ask for it by name
Ordinary feeding moves the bottom layer and hopes the top one keeps up. IDT brings a second set of feed teeth down from above so both layers travel together at the same rate. Piecing lands where you pinned it, plaids and stripes meet at the seam, and a quilt sandwich comes out the far side the size it went in. It is built into the machine, and it swings in and out of the way when you want it.
201 stitches, and tension you do not have to think about
Utility, quilting and decorative stitches up to 7mm wide and 5mm long, plus two fonts for a label on the back of a quilt. One-step buttonholes measure your button and repeat it down the whole front of a shirt.
Tension is set automatically for the fabric and thread you are using. That is one dial fewer to second-guess when you move from cotton piecing to a flannel backing in the same afternoon.
Room for the quilt, and a ruler where you need one
There are 7.9 inches (200mm) to the right of the needle. On a machine this size that is generous, and it is the difference between rolling a lap quilt through and holding it up out of the way.
The accessory tray has a ruler molded into it, in inches and centimeters. It sounds like a small thing until the third time you measure a seam allowance without going to find anything.
Buttons under your right hand
Needle up and down for pivoting at a corner. Auto Snip to cut the top and bobbin threads at a press. Start and stop to run the machine without the foot pedal, which is what you want for a long seam or free-motion work. And reverse, to lock a seam.
The speed slider sits alongside them. Set it slow for a tricky curve or open it up to 800 stitches a minute for a straight run, and the machine holds whatever you choose.
A color screen, LED light and an extra high foot lift
The 4.3 inch color touchscreen shows each stitch at the size it will actually sew, so you are choosing by eye rather than by number. LEDs sit above the needle and across the throat to light the work without your hand casting a shadow.
The presser foot lifts extra high for thick seams, bulky quilt layers and denim, and foot pressure is adjustable if you are moving between silk and upholstery weight. It is preset to N, which suits most fabric, and most people never move it.

Other Machines to Consider
Pfaff Quilt Ambition 635 Sewing and Quilting Machine — Frequently Asked Questions
Is the quilt ambition 635 good for quilting?
That is what it is built for. The Original IDT dual feed moves the top and bottom layers together so a quilt sandwich comes out square, there are 7.9 inches (200mm) to the right of the needle for the quilt to sit in, the feed dogs drop for free-motion work, and a quarter inch quilting foot for the IDT system is in the box.
What is PFAFF's Original IDT system?
IDT is integrated dual feed, built into the machine rather than added on. A second set of feed teeth comes down from above and moves the top layer at the same rate the feed dogs move the bottom one, so piecing lands where you pinned it and plaids meet at the seam. You engage and release it as you need it.
Does the 635 embroider?
No. It is a dedicated sewing and quilting machine. If you want PFAFF embroidery, the Creative Elevate 680 is a sewing machine you can add an embroidery unit to later, and the creative icon 2 sews and embroiders from day one. The Quilt Fairies will happily compare them with you at (502) 718-7148.
How heavy is the quilt ambition 635?
19.4 lbs (8.8 kg), and it measures 18.9 by 7.6 by 11.8 inches. It is light enough to carry to a class or a retreat while still giving you 7.9 inches of room to the right of the needle.
Do I have to set the thread tension?
No. Tension is set automatically for the fabric and thread you are using, so moving from cotton piecing to a flannel backing does not mean stopping to adjust a dial.
Can I finance the quilt ambition 635?
Yes. Shop Pay Installments is available at checkout, and you will see your estimated monthly payment right on this page. You can also ask the Quilt Fairies about the Quilt Fairy Godmother Program and about trading in your current machine.
What warranty comes with the 635?
PFAFF warrants the machine frame for 10 years and the electronic and electrical components for 2 years, supplying replacement parts free in both cases. The remaining mechanical parts are covered for one year, including labor. The warranty goes to the original purchaser buying from an authorized PFAFF dealer, so keep your receipt with the warranty card.
