Wendy's Baby Sailor Quilt
Wendy owns one of my local quilt shop gems, Among Friends Quilt Shop. Just the fact that she is able to own a shop AND find time to piece a quilt is pretty amazing. I don't own a retail store and I can't seem to find the time to piece anymore!
This patriotic baby quilt is a great summer project and features that ginormous ric-rac that is so popular right now. I did an echo around the ric-rac and outlined her sailboats. Then I added a loopie meander background that reminds me of the movement of the ships.
In the opposite corners I added boat anchors that goes perfectly with the theme. Cute, eh? In the pinwheels I used her piecing to guide the quilting so it was completely a no marking project. There are two different pinwheels in this top so I quilted them two different ways. You can see it best from the back. This quilt is really more like a reversible quilt as it has a dark brown backing and I used white thread. The backing is really beautiful.

I put waves in the sashings to add to the nautical feel of the whole quilt top. Some little boy is going to love Wendy's quilt, don't you think?
