We survived!!! Last week I had my first ever Longarm Schoolhouse, 4 days filled with 6 classes and 2 lectures. For those 6 classes we filled 78 slots! There were some long days and some tiring days, but it was so much fun! I had all levels of quilters in these classes. Some were just beginning their longarm journey, while others were blue ribbon winning longarm quilters. Regardless of each quilter's ability, at the end of each class I saw an improvement in each student's work. Seeing those improvements is so fulfilling and made each early morning worth it! Many of these classes, like the Quilting Legos class where we talked about different ways to fill in common blocks and the Fitting Feathers in Any Shape class where we played with feathers for a few hours, were my first time formally teaching them. I've taught and discussed many of the skills in my other classes and at guild meetings, but last week was their big debut. As a result, I think I learned just as much during the classes as my students did! I'm really looking forward to bringing some of these classes to national shows.
