Still More Renter Finishes
Our renters do such amazing work and bring in great tops to quilt - here are a few examples!
Lynn and Debby are sisters who had some familiarity with longarm machines but went through rental certification so that they'd be comfortable with our APQS longarm machines. Lynn, who is local, then brought in this jelly roll race quilt to quilt the next day. I absolutely love her appliqued Dresden plates - they take the concept of the jelly roll race quilt to a new level! She chose the Square Spirals pantograph and loved the even, angular texture and interest that it added to this already interesting quilt.
And she found the perfect backing in our shop, the Kaffe Fassett Circles in Green. I think it had almost all of the colors in Lynn's top, it's almost like it was made for this quilt!
Debby participated in a Block-a-Day program called That Town and Country by Gourmet Quilter and the result is this stunner! She lives in the St. Louis area, so her blocks are customized to include the Gateway Arch, Ted Drewes Frozen Custard, and many other places near and dear to her heart.
The blocks were quilt-as-you-go, one at a time, but she wanted to quilt long vertical and horizontal lines to secure the rows and columns of the quilt. She used the hopping foot to measure a distance of 1/4" from the seams for her quilting lines. (The edge of the hopping foot is 1/4" from the needle.)
Isn't this baby quilt by Diane super cute? I love the colors, the panels, the borders, everything! The scrappy checkerboard border breaks up the tonal pink sashing and border perfectly. She quilted it using the Toss Up pantograph, which has lots of curves to soften up the quilt even more. So adorable!
Valerie and Judy came in together for their certification class earlier this spring. They are good friends who enjoy quilting together. For their certification class, they both brought jelly roll race quilts. Valerie quilted hers using the meandering feather design boards, and Judy quilted hers using the continuous spiral design boards. Don't their finished quilts look great? You will see more of them in future posts - in fact, they are here quilting away while I am writing this!
We'll be back soon with more renter updates!
