A Starry Log Cabin
Today I'm sharing this beautiful quilt from Vickie.
Vickie made this quilt with log cabin blocks and sawtooth stars for her daughter and son-in-law. This quilt was ginormous! It's hard to see, but to photograph it we hung it from two dowel rods. Usually we only need one, and this used every inch of space we could get from two! The fabrics were beautiful blue, green, and purple batiks that had everyone drooling.
Vickie did an amazing job piecing. The points were very precise and the quilt laid pretty flat while quilting. When it lays flat that means the seam allowances and the cutting was consistent so that unpieced and pieced borders fit really well. You can tell a lot of love went into the quilt!
The Cascade pantograph creates some beautiful texture to this already luscious batik quilt. Cascade is one of my favorite pantographs. It adds great movement to the quilt and has a feathery look without feeling too traditional.
Vickie was so happy when she came to pick it up, and we've heard her daughter is absolutely in love with the quilt too!
