My Peppermint Quilt
It has been over one year since I had quilted anything for me. It is the whole cobbler and the shoe parable. I am committed to doing some of my quilts this year. So this was a great way to begin! This quilt is a great example of why I'm glad my longarm quilting machine has the biggest possible throat. When you have a quilt with 12" blocks on point, it becomes impossible to do the quilting on a block like that in one pass. The machine I have, an APQS Millennium, has a 26" throat. So 12" blocks on point are absolutely doable. Machines with smaller throats would have to do a 12" block on point in two passes. Well, the blocks in this quilt are about 20"! When set on point even my big machine couldn't do the entire block in one pass. I had to do it one half motif at a time. It was worth it though, I love wide open areas like that to play within. I think I'm going to bind it in the black and white polka dots I've used in the outside border. I'm also pretty sure I'm going to go over the binding with one of my fun new stitches on my new Viking sewing machine. I'm just so ecstatic I did a quilt for ME!
It reminds me of peppermints!
