Part 2 of my Ky State Fair Fun: There were so many things to see at the fair and I look forward to it every year. This year there were many changes in the quilt division. They seem to have a dedicated group of people working hard to improve some of the difficulties it has had in the past. I look forward to seeing how they tweak it even more next year. This is one of the only quilts I took that I don't personally know the creator. I really loved how simple and fun this baby quilt was. Wouldn't it be a quick, happy quilt to make for someone? Those jaw dropping hanky ladies were in the fair but the quilt was disqualified because it had been entered in the wrong category. I looked to see which category it should have been entered in but I'm clueless. I was really disappointed for my client. She worked so hard on this quilt. My friend Karen has taken my Beginning Longarm Quilting class and always makes such pretty quilts. That's her sherbert stars above and her beach umbrella french braid quilt on the left. I did the background quilting on Linda's T-shirt quilt. Isn't the layout intriguing? I just love the way it looks like those travel stickers you see on luggage. Linda did this one and it is a really wonderful idea. CAKES! This Sewing basket cake was also fun. There is a thimble, thread spool, measuring tape, applique, scissors. You can tell they had a great time making it, can't you? Back to the quilts! Do you remember this contemporary Sunbonnet Sue that Arline made? She is a very talented quilter and she came up with this layout by herself. Plus, she hand embroidered around every bit of those applique pieces! She always does such a great job and is so fun to work with. My local guild had a wool applique workshop last year where we all made these pumpkin runners. Sarah Jane won the ribbon on this one. She did some embellishing on the leaves and the vines that looks so realistic. This was in the photography division. I didn't expect to find this award winning inklique quilt there! Someday I hope to see this quilt in person.

Oh, yes, more quilts! :) I took a shot of these two because they were made out of men's ties. I would love to do this with my daddy's ties. He had some woppers! I wonder how Pillsbury doughboy ties and Donald Duck ties would look in a sophisticated quilt like this?
