I've got to say that I cringe a little when I get a lone star quilt in. I love them, but they are incredibly difficult to piece. You've got bias edges everywhere and trying to get everything to lay flat can be challenging for even the most experienced piecer.

If the Lone Star doesn't lay flat, it makes the quilting very difficult. Plus you've got a ton of seams coming together in the very center which can create a big knuckle seam dead center. She has done an impressive job making this top flat, square and perfect in every way. I really think she could enter it in a show as it is pieced that well. I hope she does!

The quilting designs she selected are not traditional and they worked so well on the top. She decided to go with an overall foliage theme. The outer border has drifting leaves. The inner borders have a scrolled leaf design in two different sizes. Those designs are a part of a set that goes hand in hand with the setting square and setting triangles.

I had a ball doing the CC's in the Star the Linda Taylor way. I recently joined QNN TV and I've been watching all the old Linda Taylor shows archived on there. While the shows are a few years old, the tips and ideas are timeless. It was $24 to join and I'm not getting that many magazines anymore outside of Machine Quilting Unlimited so I sprang for it. Lots of good stuff there!

I'm also busy putting the setting triangles and squares in Bonnie's vintage Lone Star. It is difficult as the fabrics are all kinds of fibers from cotton to poly. Some of the points on the star are gone but I 'm taming it and I know Bonnie will love it!
