Since we live in Louisville, Linda made her May block into a Ky Derby theme complete with the twin spires of Churchill Downs. This hankie lady is all dressed up in her fanciest dress and best hat for her day at the races.

June's block is a special one to Linda as it commemorates her June birthday. This hankie lady is carrying a birthday cake and has a beautiful dress on for the party. Don't you love the curved cross hatching behind the ladies? I really love the look of curved cross hatching. It is a nod to the traditional with a modern twist. Linda used the book Bonnet Girls of the Past for her inspiration. Then she drafted her own templates for her personal spin on the bonnet girls. I think she did an excellent job! I followed Linda's embroidered lines to give the ladies some definition without putting too many stitches in the ladies so they stand out a bit from the background. Oskar kitten lounging Oh, and a closeup of the sashing where you can see the feathered motifs against the light green fabric. Little bitty Oskar is testing all the sofa's to see which one is best to snooze on. I think it may be a lifelong experiment for him.
