Sarah made this king sized LeMoyne star and did an absolutely incredible job keeping it square and flat. Piecing these blocks with all their bias edges can be very difficult. She pulled it off and used a wonderful color palette too! I didn't get a photo of the backing but it is a cute chicken fabric on an olive green background that matches the fabrics in the top. This is a good example of how I use my tablet and Photoshop to audition quilting designs on a quilt. First, I import a photo into my computer so I can doodle and draw on it inside my paint program. I use a Wacom Bamboo Tablet for this part because drawing with a mouse is impossible! Take a look at some of my initial design ideas for this quilt. Be sure to look at the sashings and border ideas as well. In this case, the blocks are relatively small, maybe 10" squares. That becomes a deciding factor with the quilting design because anything busy will make the density all wrong. Instead, I wanted to give the stars as much spin and movement as possible. I decided to use swooping lines as a modified continuous curve. Then to offset those curvy lines, I went with very angular diamonds in the sashings and treated the sashings as one unit.
