Lancaster, PA Quilt Show Closeups
As you can see from the photos, when I take photos of quilts I forget to get wide shots and spend all my time capturing quilting designs that speak to me. I didn't notice it until I got home and thought about how much more effective the shots would be if I had taken the time to get a full photo of the quilts!
This quilt had an interesting treatment to the cross hatching in the outside border. The quilter filled in a line of the hatching that created a whole new look. I really loved the outside border on this quilt. Sometimes a large border can be intimidating when it comes to selecting a quilting pattern. I like how modern this one is. I've always loved feathered stars but I've never pieced on before. Doesn't it look intimidating? Can you see the Sashiko inspired small filler in the light blue area. We saw a bunch of this type of filler being used. It is very effective.
The Best of Show Wall Quilt was stunning. The crystals on it weren't over powering and the quilting was fabulous. I think Rhonda Beyer quilted it (if I'm wrong someone correct me in the comments section). I love her feathers and the cross hatching was exquisite.
