Kathy's Seaside Town
Kathy makes fun, modern, funky quilts and loves custom quilting on them. This seaside resort town quilt is no exception. She originally asked for flying pelicans in the sky above the town and I couldn't find one to save my life. I only found one and it was sitting on a pier- not exactly a motif I could put up in all that white space! Instead I found some seabirds flying in different positions and I think it works nicely on her quilt. I used some freehand swirls to give the air some movement. There is sea grass between the houses and each house has a different filler depending on the fabric used to make the house. Finally, in the bottom sea area is a turtle family swimming the day away. I used a freehand water effect around the turtles. Love it!
