Samplers are a type of quilt that has been around for a while. Originally, before there were books of patterns and the internet, women would stitch together a single block as a way to store a pattern. Many people have found stacks of these blocks in attics bound by string, some stitched on one side like books. Later on, sometimes much later on, the blocks would be stitched together to form a quilt. Now a days, people create sampler quilts as a way to explore styles or hone technique. They are beautiful and make us think about the way things were in a simpler time. Jodi made a beautiful blue, green, and gold sampler quilt and asked me to quilt it for her.
