Fay manages one of my local quilt shop gemes, The Smocking Shop. I wish I could do some sort of vulcan mind meld with her brain and get all of her embroidery/garment construction knowledge.
She taught this quilt in a class and it is one of my favorites. She finished it up during a retreat we went to in the fall. She changed the pattern a bit an put a color block border on the outside that works great.
I found a great pattern for that border that has purses, gloves, high heels and I added Hollywood stars in the corners.
In the background behind the paper dolls, I used two different freehand fillers. One was a peacock feather filler that is a perfect filler for girls dress up playtime. The other background filler I used was a daisy filler that mimics the fabric and is a wonderful girly girl pattern to include in this quilt. In the main portion of the quilt, Fay left some rectangles that provided a great place to place some fun high heel patterns that bring out the fun dress up diva nature of the quilt. This quilt looks even more awesome from the back and was so much fun to work on!

Here are some "Love my tummy" photos of our little Oskar Kitty. He is solid black except for his tummy and socks. My kidlets say he has his tighty whities on. :) Just don't try to touch that tummy for too long because it is being guarded by talons and fangs.
