Dip, Dye, and Dabble Day Camp Rescheduled!
With lots of snowing coming through the Ohio River Valley this weekend, we've made the decision to reschedule the Dip, Dye, and Dabble Day Camp to February 11-13, 2016. Everything about the camp is remaining the same, we're just changing the date and hoping for much better weather! We do have a few spots available in the camp, if the date change fits your schedule better, we would love for you to join us!
What is the Dip, Dye, and Dabble Day Camp?
The Dip, Dye, and Dabble Day Camp is a three day workshop on fabric dyeing taught by quilter and fiber artist Pat Sturtzel. Over the three days students will explore an assortment of fabric dyeing techniques. The first day of class will be spent creating our own unique stamps for prints and learning the basic techniques of fabric dyeing including shibori techniques, batik, over-dyeing, and creating color gradations. Over the next two days we’ll expand upon those techniques, slowly working towards more complex looks and creating designs using soy wax and the stamps we made on day one. At the end of the three days, you will take home the equivalent of at least 8 yards – or about 32 fat quarters – of beautiful dyed fabrics you’ll be proud to show off to your friends and family! Not sure what shibori, over-dyeing, or color gradations are? Read through this post for a simple explanation.Don't forget Pat's lecture and trunk show!
Pat's lecture and trunk show has also been rescheduled to Friday February 12 at 6:30pm. Pat will have some of her quilts and fiber art projects on display in addition to a slide show of the many projects she has facilitated with organizations like the KY Arts Council, VSA arts of KY, the Kentucky Center's Arts in Healing Program, and more. Pat's lecture is not restricted to just students. If work prevents you from coming to the camp, you can still see some beautiful dyed fabrics and quilts! She may even have a few pieces of dyed fabric available for purchase.I’m Angela- Co-host of the Fons & Porter’s Love of Quilting PBS show. APQS Long arm Dealer and Educator. Triplet Momma. Designer.
