Diane's Fuzzy String Quilt
Dianne calls this quilt her Razzle Dazzle quilt. My daughter loves it. Doesn’t it look like it was a fun to make? No worries, just fun! String quilts are always so liberating.
She chose the squared spiral pantograph and it works great on this modern top.
She also decided to use Minky on the back. Minky is a microfiber fleece that feels like chinchilla fur. It can be difficult to work with and it always leaves tumbleweeds rolling through my sewing room but the end result is so worth it.
The key to using Minky is to load it with the stretchiest side parallel to the bars to reduce the stretch of the fabric on the longarm machine. Then it is important not to over quilt it. While it is a little finicky, it quilts up beautifully.
I’m winding down to the last 3 custom quilts to finish before I can start my hiatus. These last three custom quilts are pretty intensive so I’m hoping I can power through them in only a few weeks time but that might be wishful thinking. 🙂
