Arline’s Sunbonnet Sue

Arline made this wonderful Sunbonnet Sue. Don’t you just love the little hats in the sashing?  Arline also sewed all those buttonhold stitches on Sue by hand!  Can you imagine?

Love the little hats in the sashing of this Sunbonnet Sue quilt! -

I am trying to decide what to put behind all of her little Sue’s. The garden theme keeps popping up in my head. Maybe each Sue gets a horizon line with flowers around her as if she is standing in the garden?

Maybe I use a floral filler behind each Sue?

I believe I’ll put a 1/4″ outline stitch inside Sue and the bonnets.

What do you think?  How would you quilt it?  🙂

  1. I just have to encourage you again! I am a longarmer and just love to see your finished quilts. I have a Gammill that I handguide, so your source of overall pantagraphs are just so helpful for my future library. We are hoping to relocate in our nursing field to Virginia and I will set up my "suziebell" there…my first love…Quilting!.Thanks again, your kids are gorgeous! Kari
