Tucker University: Rapid Fire Lemoyne Star
Ready to make those beautiful, traditional Lemoyne Stars without the frustration of matching tricky points and angles? In this Tucker University class, you’ll learn the Rapid Fire Lemoyne Star® tool and the techniques that make creating this classic star block surprisingly simple!
You’ll learn Studio 180 Design’s signature oversize-and-trim technique, allowing you to construct your units slightly oversized and then trim them to precise dimensions. This approach takes the guesswork out of piecing and helps you achieve sharp, accurate points and consistent results.
During class, you’ll learn how to:
- Use the Rapid Fire Lemoyne Star tool to construct accurate star units
- Understand the cutting and piecing process for Lemoyne Star blocks
- Create precise star points without relying on complicated templates
- Use the trim-down process to achieve perfectly sized units
- Understand how fabric placement and color affect the look of your finished star
- Build confidence working with angled pieces and traditional star designs
As with the other Tucker University classes, the goal is to learn how to use the tool and understand the technique, rather than simply make one particular quilt. Once you understand the construction process, you’ll be able to recognize and use Lemoyne Star units in a variety of quilt patterns and designs.

Shared Classroom Ruler Option: Don't own a Rapid Fire Lemoyne Star ruler yet? No problem! You can reserve a shared classroom ruler for just $5. You'll have access to a ruler during class and can apply your rental fee toward the purchase of a Square Squared ruler on the day of class if you decide you'd like one of your own. Shared rulers are available in limited quantities and will be used by multiple students throughout the class.

Pre-Cutting and Pre-Construction Instructions
• Fabrics are denoted with an A or B to indicate that this should be different fabric colors.
• Strips are cut on the width of the fabric or wof based on 40” of usable fabric
• Cutting will provide you with plenty of practice material for the purpose of class participation.
