Long Arm Machine Rental Certification Class

Ready to rent our APQS longarm machines to finish your quilts yourself? We have everything you need to be successful including all the goodies and gadgets to make it easy (Even your own Quilt Fairy).  To be qualified to rent by the hour you’ll need to take the Rental Certification Class.

Our Rental Certification class is limited to just two students, so you receive plenty of focused, one-on-one attention. The class typically runs 2 to 3.5 hours, depending on the number of students, the size of the quilts, and the patterns selected.

In this class, you will learn how to use our rental machines in a way that fits your goals. You can choose to work with paper pantographs, the design board, or the computerized system. You will practice your chosen method during class so you feel confident using it on your own when you return to rent.

You will quilt your own project during the session, so please bring a quilt top that is approximately 40″ x 50″. It may be as large as 60″ x 70″. Choose something simple and low-pressure, not a delicate heirloom. This is a learning experience, and we want you to feel comfortable if mistakes happen.

If it has been more than a couple of years since you last rented, a refresher session is available for $20.

For class, your backing fabric and batting must each be at least 6″ larger than your quilt top on all sides. For example, a 50″ x 50″ quilt will require at least 56″ x 56″ backing and batting. Larger is perfectly fine, just not smaller.

If you need materials, we offer a thoughtfully curated selection of fabrics, backings, batting, thread, and quilting supplies to support your project from start to finish. Our team is always happy to help you choose what will work best for your quilt.
