I have a client who has a number of quilts from her husband's aunt and has hired me to complete them for her. This is the first one in the series I've done for her. She chose to have the Fire Curl pantograph place on it which is a great masculine pattern. She wasn't sure if anyone would like the red and black combination but I assured her that in this University of Louisville town... there are plenty of people who like that color combination! She brought the backing to me in a sealed package she had picked up in a clearance bin years ago. It was labeled as being 96 x 108 so we thought we could use it for the backing and she had only paid $1 for it. She bought it years and years ago but when I opened the package it was three strips of regular width fabric. What a bummer! She thought she was saving money but then she had to get it seamed after all before we could use it for her backing. She has a grandson she said will really like this quilt top and if he is a UofL fan, I know she is right!
