Sock Monkey Invasion
I think my favorite type of quilt is a whimsical quilt. I admire heirloom appliques and creative modern quilts but they don't make my inner child smile.
Whimsical quilts make my inner child smile.
This quilt features large sock monkeys still awaiting their button eye balls but I got to quilt up their energetic blocks with fun loopey designs.
I made a banana border and corner that will soon be coming out on the commercial market. Who knew it would be so hard to find a sock monkey banana pantograph or banana border that I'd have to design one myself?
I also made a banana corner and banana quilt motif for the half square triangles. Once they are released to the public I'll post a link here!
The Green sashing has leaves wrapping around the quilt and the clusters of leaves have veining added. In the outside border I put a banana with peeled banana corners. I stayed off the monkeys for the most part but I did nail down the larger areas. The pillows have the peeled banana triangle quilt motif in the corners and the sock monkeys have a loopy background behind them as if they've been jumping all day.
