Here’s some more shots from the Mystery sampler quilt I just finished up for a client. Be sure to click over and see the first post about this quilt for more photos of the different areas.

I’m so impressed by the creativity shown in the layout of this sampler quilt. The piecer gets lots of experience doing all different kinds of patchwork but sometimes a sampler can be a bit boring. This one is definitely NOT boring! LOL!

Those are 3D pinwheels which is a delight to the eye but can cause issues with a longarm. I used a loopy freehand filler behind the pinwheels to make them pop but keep my hopping foot safely away from the flaps of the pinwheel.

Some of the filler blocks were just fussy cut blocks of fabric with a frame around them. In those a simple squiggle enhanced the modern feel of the piecing while allowing the beautiful fabric to come forward to the eye.

I decided to do a large curling feather on the chevron border. It pulls the various fabrics together and reflects back on the feathers I did around the large star motif too.
